Schiap, this was the nickname the French gave her when she arrived in France. Already full of tips and inspiration given to her by Man Ray and Marcel Duchamp (just to name some of them!), she desided to dedicate herself to fashion, what will become Paris' pain-quotidien. Schiap was not a common person, even less a common woman: her oneiric-dada visions were totally unique and always coherent to an idea of creativity wich wanted women to be happy. Emancipated woman, as well as her collegue-rival Coco Chanel, she contributed to modify and to improve modern fashion, she started to put zippers (we have talked about them!) on her clothes.
This smart woman left us a permanent mark: the invention of the FUCSIA COLOUR! Yes, she was the first one to notice it, and to name it like that, anyone before had the courage/insight to think about it.It makes sense then, to see her compared with the fashion genius Miuccia Prada, in a retrospctive hosted by the Met in NYC, where they are both celebrated for their contribute anything but obvious.
